The mark consists of The mark consists of the circular seal with the text HISTORICAL SOCIETY at the top of the seal. At bottom of the seal, there is the wording OF MICHIGAN, with an interpunct appearing on the left of the text. To the right of OF MICHIGAN, there is another interpunct followed by the numbering 1828 followed by another interpunct to the right of that numbering. Inside the wording on the outermost part of the seal, there is a stylized image of a capitol building, with a banner appearing at the bottom of the image with the wording MICHIGAN'S FIRST CAPITOL on it.
