The insignia consists of a Native American pulling a canoe, a traditional Winnebago dwelling and moccasins laid over an outline of the state of Nebraska, with the location of Winnebago, Nebraska pinpointed by a feather. These are surrounded by two circles with the words "Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska" between the circles on the top half of the image and the words "Hocak  Nisoc Haci" between the circles on the bottom half of the image. In the Ho-Chunk language (the language of the Winnebago Tribe) "Hocak Nisoc Haci" means "People of the sacred voice living on the Missouri River "which is intended to mean the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
