The insignia consists of the six Ojibwe clan symbols within a yellow circle background with the formal tribal name "Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa" arcing across the top, with the phrase "Hub of the Chippewa Nation" arcing immediately underneath. The clan symbols depicted each have a line extending from the head to a heart symbol within their center. The clan symbols depicted are as follows: Marten, Bear, Crane, Loon, Eagle and Fish. The Fish in the insignia generally resembles a sturgeon and is located on the bottom, and the Eagle has outstretched wings and is located in the center of the clan animals. The Marten and Bear are located on the top left and right respectively, and the Loon and Crane are located on the left and right underneath, slightly offset
