The mark consists of the large stylized wording "MEL'S" above a shaded oblong shape resembling a hot dog. The stylized wording "HOT DOGS" is superimposed over the oblong. In smaller stylized font below "HOT DOGS" within the oblong is the stylized wording "FEATURING REAL CHICAGO STYLE HOT DOGS". Superimposed over the "'S" in "MEL'S" is a caricature of a man with light hair and a dark mustache wearing a bow tie, seated on the bottom of the letter "S" with his arms resting on his knee, his legs crossed, and a hot dog coming out of both of his ears with a small sign placed in the left side of the hot dog that reads "HOT DOG".
