SAN MARCOS FIRE DEPARTMENT SMFD

The mark consists of a red Maltese cross design, outlined in light gray. In the center circle of the Maltese cross is the stylized lettering "SMFD" wherein the letters "SM" are interlocking, both in white, and the letters "FD" are in blue with white outlining. In the left quadrant of the Maltese cross is a design of a ladder overlapping diagonally with a design of a fire poker, both in gold. In the right quadrant of the Maltese cross is a design of a stylized Rod of Asclepius symbol, wherein the rod is gold and the serpent is white. The Maltese cross is imposed on top of a design of two intersecting axes, forming an X-shape. The handles of the axes are brown with dark brown shadowing. The cheeks of the axes are red with dark red shadowing. The bits of the axes are gray with dark gray shadowing. The Maltese cross and axe designs are on a blue background, which forms the center of a badge. The top section of the badge features the stylized wording "SAN MARCOS" in white, on a red background. The bottom section of the badge features the stylized wording "FIRE DEPARTMENT" in white, on a red background. The left and right sections of the badge are mirror images of one another and feature red and white striping below white stars on a blue background, the aforementioned stylized in the likeness of the American flag. All sections of the badge are outlined in light gray. The overall badge design is outlined in dark gray.
