DERIVED FROM BIOENGINEERING

The mark consists of a circle with a bottom portion shaded in a first hill shape that extends to approximately the center of the circle. The circle also consists of a second hill shape, indicated by contour lines, that extends across the lower portion of the circle. The upper left of the circle has a stem with two leaves and a four pointed stellate design element and a curved band stylized as the sun. There are three concentric rings circumscribing the circle. The outermost ring has the literal elements "DERIVED FROM" in upper case letters arranged in an arcuate shape across the top of the circle, with a four pointed stellate design element placed before and after the literal elements "DERIVED FROM". The outermost ring also has the literal element "BIOENGINEERING" in upper case letters arranged in an arcuate shape across the bottom of the circle.

The certification mark, as intended to be used by persons authorized by the certifier, is intended to certify that a product, when the mark is affixed, is a bioengineered food in that the food contains genetic material that has been modified through in vitro recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) techniques, and for which the modification could not otherwise be obtained through conventional breeding or found in nature.
