Providing an incentive program for encouraging electrical power users to reduce power usage; providing a program by which electrical power consumption is reduced at selected times; remotely controlling the operation of energy consuming equipment at business premises to selectively reduce energy consumption; remotely controlling the operation of thermostats, electrically powered heating, air conditioning, water heaters, and other equipment of electrical power users to selectively reduce demand on an electrical power grid; notifying and providing incentives to energy users to control the operation of energy consuming equipment at business premises to selectively reduce energy consumption; notifying and providing incentives for electrical power users to control thermostats, electrically powered heating, air conditioning, water heaters, and other equipment to reduce the use of electrical power
