The mark consists of both graphical and literal elements, where the graphical depiction of a microscope is placed in front of and to the right-hand side of the graphical depiction of a globe. The microscope is an optical telescope. The globe consists of continents, lines of latitude and longitude and oceans. The literal element is the phrase "Institute for Biomarker Research", the letters "I" in the word "Institute", "B" in the word "Biomarker", and "R" in the word "Research" are in upper-case, the phrase forms a semi-circle around the outside of the globe, where the "I" of "Institute" is on the left-hand side of the globe and the phrase continues around the top of the globe, having the "h" of "Research" on the right-hand side of the globe and parallel to the "I" of "Institute".
