Design Mark
The mark consists of an inner circle that is surrounded by an outer ring. The outer ring consists of the phrases "Sails to Atoms", "Dedicated To Submarine Progress", "Portsmouth Naval Shipyard" and two stars, one on either side of the ring in a horizontal plane. The inner circle is divided equally by the horizon of the sky and the ocean horizontally. The upper hemisphere is the portion of the mark that depicts the sky and the lower hemisphere is the portion of the mark that depicts the ocean. The sky portion of the inner circle mark depicts a cloud, the rigging of a sailing vessel, the upper portion of a light house and the light house keeper's house. The ocean portion of the inner circle consists of the sail boat's hull, the ledge and the light house and the light house keeper's house, a submarine that is running on the surface of the ocean, waves and the phrase "ESTAB. 1800". The color black appears as the outer and inner edges of the outer ring of the mark, as the two stars that are equal distant and on the same horizontal plane from each other on the outer ring of the mark, as the word "to", as the phrase "Dedicated To Submarine Progress", as the hull of both the submarine and the sailing vessel and the rigging of the sailing vessel. The color light blue appears as the sky on the upper hemisphere of the inner circle of the mark and as the waves that around in the dark blue water that are in the lower hemisphere of the center circle. The color dark blue appears as the water on the lower hemisphere of the inner circle of the mark. The color white appears as the cloud in the inner circle of the mark, as the background of the outer ring of the mark, as the phrase "ESTAB. 1800" that is located on the lower side of the mark below the submarine and about the inner ring and as the waves that around in the dark blue water that is in the lower hemisphere of the center circle. The color red appears as the word "atoms" and the phrase "Portsmouth Naval Shipyard" in the outer ring of the mark. The color gray appears as the deck of the submarine, as shading on the sails of the sailing vessel of the mark and as shading within the cloud.
