THE THREE LATIN WORDS APPEARING IN THE MARK REPRESENT A TERSE TRANSLATION OF THE MOTTO "A CULTIVATED MIND IS THE GUARDIAN GENIUS OF DEMOCRACY". IN ENGLISH, THE WORD "DISCIPLINA" ROUGHLY MEANS "DISCIPLINE"; THE WORD "PRAESIDIUM" ROUGHLY MEANS "GARRISON" OR "GUARDIAN"; AND THE WORD "CIVITATIS" MEANS "CITIZENSHIP".
Translation
The three Latin words appearing in the mark represent a terse translation of the motto "a cultivated mind is the guardian genius of democracy". In English, the word "disciplina" roughly means "discipline"; the word "praesidium" roughly means "garrison" or "guardian"; and the word "civitatis" means "citizenship". Sec. 2(f).
